BLOG YOUR DOG: stories about your furry friend... yes, cats and horses, even birds, mice: I want to hear about your best fur, feathered or scaley friend.

From time to time at Imagine On Main Street we've had guests with wonderful stories. sometimes this blog will give you a place to share loss of a loved one as well.

I know when Blue passed on I kept picking up perfect throwing sticks and balls.  What was I going to do with them without a dog to fetch?  Eventually Sunday, Maggie, Oscar & Emmy, April, Pretty Face, John Henry, Sneeqy, Rowdie, Rosie, Gabriel, Cas, Amber, Buckwheat, OB and now Jack is added to the long line of wonderful fur people I have been blessed by.

Every so often I'll add a story or painting or photo from my life or a commission.

Today, as we watch the progress of recovery and monitoring assesments of devastation in Japan, I'm thinking of what we can do from this little mountain home to help people in Japan..  It's March 13th, my brothers birthday (Happy Birthday big brother),
    As it turns out there is something that we can do.  Teresa McFarland is being deployed to Japan on March 26th.  We knew she'd be going a month ago.  It was not a prediction of the great quake and Tsunami.  These were her orders before this natural disaster.
     T is in the Navy.  We've celebrated her progress in studying to become a nurse, we've admired her courage  to travel to distant lands donating her service to missions in need.  Many young mothers smile in gratitude at T's selfless months of pre-natal preparation and follow up, throughout Kern County.  We honor Teresa for her service to our country.  And we love sharing friendship & family.  Each time I get together with my first guitar player I find out more about her courage and love for her fellow human.  The deployment to Japan could be her undoing if she is inadequately protected from radioactive leaks.
    What can we do?  Teresa needs the best possible protection from the nuclear radiation.  We don't know how far reaching the radiation will be. Because T is going to help people in need I propose the start of a fund to keep her safe while doing what we can't.
